Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund

The Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund is back, giving young Canadians and their families an assist with registration fees. There was an incredible response to the launch of the Assist Fund in 2020, and we are happy that we received a portion of the funding that ultimately gave 1,032 kids an assist. The fund has over $1 million in funding to give kids the opportunity to play hockey this year and we can’t wait to start the season.

It will provide up to $500 per player in registration fee subsidies to approved applicants registered with a sanctioned Hockey Canada association.

Financial eligibility for the Assist Fund is based on the Low Income Cut-Off (LICO) guidelines from Statistics Canada, which are an integral part of our application process.

Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities and the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) announced today that they are making $480,000 available as part of the Playmakers Grant Program for the 2021-2022 season.

Individual Grants can be used to support registration fees associated with either GTHL house league or competitive programs. Applications for Individual Grants will open Aug. 16 and will close Dec. 1 (or when funding runs out.) Applications are to be submitted through Jumpstart’s grant system, https://jumpstartgrants.smartsimple.ca/, and will be required to meet Jumpstart grant criteria. Grants will be a maximum of $500 per child.

The Playmakers Program, established in 2019, is a partnership between the GTHL and Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities. Funds are distributed annually to qualifying families to help alleviate the costs associated with participating in organized hockey, and funding is provided to eligible organizations to run programming with a focus on child and community development.

The partnership will see Jumpstart match funds contributed by the GTHL Legacy Fund, comprising total funding of more than $1.5 million over five years.
